Airframe story
N227FR, an Airbus A320-214 bearing serial number 6184, is the aircraft Frontier Airlines chose to unveil its now-familiar animal-tail livery, formally introduced on September 9 with Grizwald the Bear painted on its tail. According to the registry, the jet was registered to Wells Fargo Bank Northwest NA as trustee from 2014, and later to Wells Fargo Trust Co NA as trustee, also from 2014. During its time with Frontier, on November 30, 2018, the aircraft's number 2 engine suffered an incident while operating flight F9260, forcing a return and landing at Las Vegas-McCarran International Airport with no fatalities reported. The airframe was noted stored in August 2022 while leased from JSA, and FAA records confirm it was exported to Thailand, with its registration ending on November 3, 2022. It subsequently resurfaced overseas as HS-VKS, operated by Thai VietJet.
